In this article we start by sketching a bio-bibliographical portrait of Achilles Statius before moving on to the study of his Comments, focusing on four points: the title, the dedication, the preface and the commentary itself. We argue that for Achilles Statius Horace’s Ars poetica was formally an ars and as or even more important than Aristotle’s Poetics. Neste artigo, começamos com uma aproximação bio-bibliográfica do humanista lusitano e continuamos com o estudo dos seus Comentários, centrando-nos em quatro pontos; o título, a dedicatória, o proémio e o comentário em si. Concluímos que para Aquiles Estácio a Ars poetica de Horácio é formalmente uma ars e é tanto ou mais importante que a Poética de Aristóteles. En el presente artículo comenzamos con una aproximación bio-bibliográfica del humanista lusitano y continuamos con el estudio de sus Comentarios, centrándonos en cuatro puntos: el título, la dedicatoria, el proemio y el comentario en sí. Concluimos que para Aquiles Estacio el Ars poetica de Horacio es formalmente un ars y tan importante o más que la Poética de Aristóteles. Dans cet article, nous commençons par une approche bio-bibliographique de l'humaniste portugais et nous poursuivons avec l'étude de ses Commentaires, en mettant l’accent sur quatre points: le titre, la dédicace, la préface et le commentaire lui-même. Nous concluons que, pour Achilles Statius, l'Ars poetica d’Horace est formellement une ars et qu’elle est aussi, sinon plus, importante que la Poétique d'Aristote. |
